Criteria for Accreditation
The role of an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant is crucial for advancing the practice and maintaining high standards of training and care.
EMDR consultant
To become an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant, practitioners must meet the following requirements:
- Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of three years of experience since their accreditation as an EMDR Europe accredited Practitioner.
- Clinical Work:
- Must have treated a broad range of clients with varying diagnoses and complexities.
- Completed a minimum of 400 EMDR sessions.
- Treated at least 75 clients utilizing EMDR since becoming an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner.
- Supervision and Consultation:
- Demonstrate competency in providing EMDR clinical supervision or consultation, which generally involves a minimum of 20 hours.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision of ongoing EMDR clinical work.
- Training and Development:
- Hold a certificate of competency from an approved EMDR Europe Consultants training.
- Have completed at least 30 hours of EMDR Continuous Professional Development (CPD) since becoming an EMDR Europe Practitioner.
- Documentation:
- Submit a minimum of three video recordings (or in-vivo sessions) showcasing an EMDR clinical session, an individual EMDR clinical supervision session, and a group EMDR clinical supervision session.
- Submit and EMDR Europe Competency Framework filled out by an EMDR Europe trainer or senior consultant who has trained the applicant and witnessed his/her clinical and consulting competencies as requested in the document.
- Application and accreditation process:
- The Applicant has to deliver the documents proving the above mentioned requirements signed by an EMDR Europe accredited trainer or an EMDR Europe accredited senior consultant to the EMDR National Association. The formal Accreditation itself is fulfilled through the local EMDR National Association based on these documents, which has a specific committee responsible for handling EMDR Europe Accreditation applications from its members.
