Committee members
A certain number of Committees focus on specific domains and tasks to assist the Executive Committee and the Board of the association.
These Committees are central to the functioning of the Association and to its development. They gather a large number of colleagues willing to participate pro bono in their respective field of interest and expertise to facilitate the development of EMDR therapy and of EMDR Europe.
Committees
Child and Adolescent Committee
The Child and Adolescent Committee provides a forum where all EMDR Europe National Associations can share specialist advice, guidance and expertise on all matters relating to the child and adolescent population on EMDR therapy, training and research, as well as the development of a common European framework acknowledging individual differences between Countries for this specific population and how to incorporate these.
Specifically, the Committee’s activities include also:
- Developing knowledge and promote research in this area
- Developing safe and ethical EMDR practice for children and adolescents across Europe;
- Establish ways for parents and professionals seeking this specialist provision to identify appropriate clinicians trained in this field.

Carlijn de Roos, PhD, is a clinical psychologist/psychotherapist currently working at the Amsterdam University Medical Centre, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Levvel) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Mrs. de Roos is an EMDR Europe accredited Child and Adolescent Trainer, chair of the Child and Adolescent Committee (EMDR Europe), and member of the research committees of the Dutch EMDR Association and of EMDR Europe.

Conference Committee
The EMDR Europe Conference Committee’s goal is the organization of the EMDR Europe’s annual Conferences, in collaboration with our Conference organizer Kuoni (a private company). During the organization process a special attention is given on guaranteeing the required standard levels of quality in terms of learning experiences as well as networking and social connections among different countries and EMDR National Association. The Conference Committee search for possible cities and venues for up-coming conferences, takes care of the planification and organization of the conference. It works in close collaboration with the Research Committee, the Scientific Committee of each conference, and the Executive Committee.

Bruna Maccarrone is a Psychologist and Psychotherapist, expert in Psychotraumatology, former Secretary of the Board of the EMDR Italy Association. She is an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant and Facilitator, Clinical Director of the “Centro Psicoterapia EMDR” in Rome.

Marian Tobin is an EMDR Europe Consultant & Training Facilitator. Trustee & Board member of EMDR UK ( 2008-2024), Chair of EMDR UK Conference Committee, ongoing member of the Accreditation Committee. Vice Chair of EMDR Europe Conference Committee (appointed 2022).

As President of EMDR Europe, Olivier Piedfort-Marin presides over the Annual Conferences and ensures the smooth process of the Conference

Beatrice Strock (Austria)
Beatrix Strock is a clinical Psychologist, Trauma Practitioner (DeGPT), EMDR Europe accredited Practitioner, Project Manager for Mental Health & Refugees, University of Zurich (since 2023)
She was the Coordinator of the EMDREA Conference in Vienna, 2011, She is Board Member & Vice President EMDR Austria (2016-2024)

Guida Manuel (Portugal)
Guida Manuel is a clinical Psychologist, Psychoterapist, EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant , with diverse backgrounds in the area of stress, trauma and crisis intervention. Works at Portuguese Judiciary Police and in private practice.

Sofia Mariani (Italy)
Sofia Mariani is the Executive Assistant of EMDR Europe Association. She supports the EMDR Europe President and the Executive committee in administratives duties and serves as liaison between the internal management, the President,the EMDR Europe chairs of committees, National Associations and Board members.

EEPICD - EMDR Early Psychological Intervention for Crisis and Disasters Committee
The Committee for Early EMDR Psychological Interventions for Crisis and Disasters aims to develop different areas concerned with Early Psychological Interventions:
- Intervention Setting
Provide support and coordinate the requests of specific needs and trainings when a crisis arises in a country or region that does not have enough resources, with a special focus on the needs of EMDR therapists on the field.
Provide specific material for interventions, with tools and concrete support, according to the nature of the crisis and/or disaster. - Training
Facilitating and promoting proper training in the EMDR European community to deal with disasters and crisis. - Research
Provide direction to EMDR clinicians psychologists in the development and delivery of expertise in crisis, disaster, psychosocial crisis management, individual and community resilience building, with evidence-based post trauma interventions to provide best practices, based on ethical principles and fundamental human rights for individuals and communities
Further investigate the contribution of EMDR therapy to the field of disasters and acute crisis situations.

Andreea Apostol (Romania)
Andreea Apostol is a clinical psychologist and EMDR Europe accredited trainer, and she is also accredited as an Expert Psychologist in Emergency and Disaster Psychology. She has been working in private practice for 20 years. She is specialized in interventions during situations of high emotional impact and acute trauma, working in this field for almost 20 years. She currently works on the medical emergency hotlines in Catalonia (Spain) at 061/Cat Salut Respon on the Mental Health Board for Suicide and Addiction Care.

Isabel Fernandez (Italy)
Isabel Fernandez is a clinical psychologist working in Milan and EMDR Europe accredited senior trainer. She has been a member of the Standing Committee Trauma and Disasters of the EFPA - European Federation Psychological Associations. She has organized interventions with EMDR in mass disasters and has worked in cooperation with Civil Defense, Military and Law enforcement and Fireworkers to provide psychological support and trauma treatment for emergency workers and to populations exposed to situations of extreme stress.

Serena Zucchi (Italy)
Serena Zucchi is Psychologist sicne 1994, and psychotherapist since 2003, EMDR Europe accredited practitioenr since 2011, member of EMDR Italy. She is project manager for EMRD Italy in Erasmus plus project (Psych.E.In.) (2021-2023); Trainer in National Health System in Psychological First Aid courses targeted to Emergency Healthcare personnel staff, sicne 2015. She is Member of EMDR Europe EPICD Committee.

Asena Yurtsever (Turkey)
Asena Yurtsever is an EMDR Europe accredited senior trainer, consultant, and EMDR R-TEP and EMDR G-TEP trainer. She is a founder and board member of EMDR Turkey, Chair of EMDR Turkey Accreditation committee, and Member of EMDR Europe EEPIC committee.

Monika Szpringer (Poland)
Monika Szpringer is a psychologist, psychotraumatologist and crisis intervener. She works as an associate professor at the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, Poland. She is the head of the Centre for Psychological Support and Psychoeducation. She has organised intervention support and participated in numerous activities, in particular for victims of the war in Ukraine and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Zuzana Cepelikova (Czech Republic)
Zuzana Čepelíková is a clinical psychologist and accredited psychotherapist working in the health care sector. She works on the frontline in large-scale emergencies and in these situations she closely cooperates with the Integrated Rescue System of the Czech Republic. She has extensive international experience both from direct work with the affected and from training colleagues to whom she passes on methods of assistance in these situations.

Nicolas Desbiendras, France
Nicolas Desbiendras is a clinical psychologist, Doctor in psycholinguistics, EMDR Europe practitioner and supervisor and currently works in Toulouse. He specializes in emergency interventions and immediate and post-immediate peri-traumatic care. He has worked for 15 years in the field of psychological trauma. First in psychiatric emergencies and at the Medico-Psychological Emergency Unit of Amiens (CUMP80), then in Toulouse with the CUMP31 of which he became one of the regional referents. He works in a private practice in Toulouse and gives training in psychotraumatology and specialized EMDR training in the field of recent events and individual and group EMDR support. He also works voluntarily for Trauma Aid France for whom he gives specialized EMDR training. Nicolas is part of the teaching team at the French Institute of EMDR and acts as a supervisor in the context of initial training in EMDR.

Ethics Committee
The aim of the Ethics Committee is to serve as an advisory Committee for EMDR Europe and its Committees and officers, for the National Association and its individual members concerning matters of professional ethics, concerning matters of professional ethics. The Ethics Committee offers recommendations and advice in ethical matters. The recommendations and advice must be linked with the EMDR Europe Conflict Resolution procedure.

Maeve Crowley (UK)
Maeve Crowley is psychologist in the UK, Co Vice-President EMDR Europe. She is a member of the OD&C Committee and interrim Chair of the newly formed Ethics Committee .

Merja Munnuka Dahlqvist (Finland)
Merja Munnukka-Dahlqvist is an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant and Facilitator, and an advanced level Traumapsychotherapist. She has many years of experience in EMDR therapy, traumapsychoterapy and EMDR supervision and Organization development work. She is member of the OD&C committee of EMDR Europe.

Milagros Molero (Spain)
Milagros Molero is Health Generalist Psychologist, family and couple therapist, EMDR Europe accredited Practitioner and Consultant in EMDR for adults and Childrend & Adolescents. Her latest research projects deal with family intervention in traumatic situations combining EMDR and family therapy. She is a clinical specialist in situations of crisis, disease and trauma.
She has accredited experience in private clinical practice, research and teaching. She is currently a trainer of several consultants in the field of health in the Valencian Community, professor in university master degrees. (Valencia University, UNED, and Valencian International University), and is Director and therapist in her own private Psychological Clinic in Valencia that provide crisis and trauma intervention services.

Nadia Thiel is a clinical psychologist and a member of the board of the Dutch EMDR Association. Ishe passionately dedicates herself to optimizing trauma treatment for vulnerable individuals with complex needs.

Nomination and Election Committee
The aim of the Election and Nomination committee is to ensure the democratic process of elections of officers and organization’s positions within EMDR Europe.
The objectives of the Nomination Committee are:
- To participate to the search for appropriate candidates for the positions available, who can be good representatives for the members of the association and who can contribute with knowledge and experience to the leadership of the association in perspective of the aim of the association and its needs.
- To monitor the deadlines when positions in the Executive Committee are due.
- To communicate to the EC and to the Board to call for candidates in a timely manner.
- To check if the candidates meet the criteria according to the Constitution and to the procedures.
- To prepare and run the election for positions in the EC during the EMDR Europe Board Meeting.
- To monitor election and re-election of chairs of the Committees when their mandates are due.

Markus Heinimaa (Finland)
Markus Heinimaa M.D., Ph.D. M.A., is a clinical psychiatrist, EMDR Europe accredited trainer, and family therapy trainer. He is Chair of the Election and Nomination Committee since november 2024.

Vesna Bogdanovic (Serbia)
Vesna Bogdanovic MD, MA, PhD, is psychiatrist, EMDR Europe accredited consutlant and senior trainer. She is psychotherapist in Analytical Psychology and EMDR.

Organizational Development and Constitution
The Organisational Development and Constitution Committee is responsible for the implementation and regulation of constitutional matters, policies and procedures.
The Committee monitors and audits the application of the Constitution and associated policies and procedures, especially with regard to new initiatives.
It is responsible for responding to questions emanating from the Executive Committee and EMDR Europe Board with regard to the Constitution, proposed changes to the Constitution and any constitutional implications in the development of new policies and procedures.
The OD&C Committee advises on any matters involving constitutional, policy and procedural irregularities within the organisation.

Joan Camilleri (Malta)
Joan Camilleri is a Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist and EMDR Europe accredited Consultant. She currently represents EMDR Europe at the Long-Life Learning Platform. She co-founded and chairs the Malta Association of EMDR since 2018. Her 25-year clinical experience ranges from personality, mood, addiction and eating disorders to leadership mentoring. She currently Heads the Counselling Services at the University of Malta and forms an integral part of the Cost action REMO researching the mental health of academics, early researchers and doctoral candidates.

Maeve Crowley is psychologist in the UK, Co Vice-President EMDR Europe. She is a member of the OD&C Committee and interrim Chair of the newly formed Ethics Committee .

Helle Rathenborg (Denmark)
Helle Rathenborg is apsychologist in Danmark since 1989, Authorized Psychologist working in Private Practice. She has ben trained in EMDR in 2004, She is an EMDR Europe accredited Practitioner since 2008 and EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant & EMDR Accredited Child & Adolescent Consultant since 2017. She is President of EMDR Denmark since 2021, and has served at the EMDR Denmark Board since 2012. She is member of the OD&C Comittee.

Kryzsztof Beyger (Poland)
Kryzsztof Beyger is psychologist, psychotherapist and EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner in Poland. He has experience in individual and group therapy with adults in both, private practice and public health settings. His research interests include PTSD, the impact of traumatic events, and individual and group EMDR therapy. He is also involved in the creation of the Polish law on the profession of psychotherapist, working in the Working Group and the Parliamentary Commission. He is currently vice-president of the Polish Association for EMDR Therapy.

Merja Munnukka Sahkoposti (Finland)
Merja Munnukka-Dahlqvist is an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant and Facilitator, and an advanced level Traumapsychotherapist. She has many years of experience in EMDR therapy, traumapsychoterapy and EMDR supervision and Organization development work. She is member of the OD&C committee of EMDR Europe.

Practice Committee
The EMDR Europe Practice Committee
- establishes and reevaluates standards and documents for the certification and recertification for practitioners and consultants (in cooperation with the EMDR Europe Standards Committee and the EMDR Europe C&A Committee).
- defines the role and the needs of consultants in the development of EMDR Europe (through increasing the number of practitioners) and gives them support in fulfilling this role.
- defines and supports the program of the yearly EMDR Europe consultant’s day
- answers all kinds of requests by member Associations and individual members of the National Associations regarding the above mention fields.

Eva Muenker-Kramer (Austria)
Eva Münker-Kramer is a clinical psychologist, CBT therapist, CBT teaching therapist, disaster and crisis psychologist, EMDR Europe accredited trainer since 2007. She has a private practice in Krems/Austria and is specialized on trauma therapy and EMDR where she is author, lecturer and trainer in different areas nationally and internationally. She has co founded and chaired the Austrian EMDR association from 2003-2021 and is EMDR Europe Vice President and Interim Chair of the EMDR Europe Practice committee.

Anca Sabau (Romania)
Anca Sabau is a Romanian child psychiatrist and therapist, working in Timișoara, EMDR Europe accredited consultant and C&A practitioner. She is a founding member of the Romanian EMDR Association. My special area of interest is developmental trauma and the work with children and families.

Ytje van Pelt (Netherland)
Ytje van Pelt, M.Sc., is a mental health care psychologist and EMDR Europe accredited trainer with extensive experience in trauma treatment. As the clinical director at Psy-zo!, she oversees various initiatives in treatment, education, and research. Ytje also serves as the editor-in-chief of the EMDR Magazine in the Netherlands. She is an active member of the EMDR European Practice Committee, where she wishes to contribute to the advancement of best practices in the field.

Johanna Barczewska (Poland)
Joanna Barszczewska, MA in Philosophy and Psychology, EMDR Europe accredited consultant and facilitator, member of the EMDR Poland Association.

Janka Ashford (Slovakia)
Janka Ashford is a psychologist and psychotherapist from Slovakia, working with children and adults in private practice. She is EMDR Europe accredited Consultant and C&A Consultant.

Research Committee
EMDR Europe has a strong commitment to promote research in basic and clinical research in the EMDR field.
The Research Committee facilitates annual grants for research projects about the mechanism of action of EMDR and randomized controlled trials in PTSD and in other psychiatric and somatic conditions.
A further mission of the Research Committee is to support high quality publications and its dissemination in international Psychology and Psychiatry scientific journals and at the EMDR Europe Conferences.
At our annual conference, the Research Committee selects the recipient of the Francine Shapiro Award and the Award for the Best Poster.
The Research Committee works alongside with other EMDR Europe committees, in particular with the Executive Committee and the Standards Committee.

Michael Hase (Germany)
Michael Hase, MD, an EMDR Therapist for more than 25 years and EMDR active in EMDR education for more than 20 years. He is EMDR Europe accredited Senior trainer. Hase is director of the EMDR Center for excellent EMDR education based in Germany offering basic and special EMDR trainings and workshops. He published first in 2008 on Reprocessing of the Addiction Memory‘. Since then he has been active in research especially on the EMDR treatment of depression and addiction. Hase published extensively on clinical and theoretical aspects of EMDR Therapy in peer-reviewed journals. Hase was awarded the Outstanding Research Award for his research on the EMDR treatment of depression and the creation of the international research project “EMDR Depression European Network” by the board of directors of the EMDR International Association in 2015. He was an active member of the board of EMDRIA Germany, which he chaired from 2011-2018. He is chair of the research committee of EMDR Europe since 2020.

Antonio Onofri (Italy)
Antonio Onofri is a Medical Doctor Psychiatrist in Rome. Co-Chair of the Research Committee of EMDR Europe. EMDR Europe accredited consultant.
He is the Director of the School of Specialization in Psychotherapy of Rome, Jesi and Spoleto, Italy. He works at the Clinic Centre De Sanctis of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Rome.

Carlijn De Roos (Netherland)
Carlijn de Roos, PhD, is a clinical psychologist/psychotherapist currently working at the Amsterdam University Medical Centre, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Levvel) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Mrs. de Roos is an EMDR Europe-accredited Child and Adolescent Trainer, chair of the Child and Adolescent Committee (EMDR Europe), and member of several research committees (Dutch EMDR Association and EMDR Europe).

Researcher and Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology at the Department of Clinical and Biological Science of the University of Torino, Italy. Psychologist and Psychotherapist at the Clinical Psychology Unit of the Univeristy Hospital "Città della Salute e della Scienza di Torino", Torino, Italy.

Suzy Matthijssen (Netherland)
Suzy Matthijssen, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist-psychotherapist, senior researcher, psychotraumatherapist NtVP, NRGD registered pro justice reporter, EMDR and CBT consultant and is a lecturer at university and postdoctoral psychology specialization programs. The focus of the research she conducts is on the optimization of trauma treatments. She is the director of the Altrecht Academic Anxiety Centre where she is also the head of an intensive trauma treatment program and she is an expert leader on PTSD. She is also the director of the Enhancing Trauma Treatment - institute. Her involvement is in research on the enhancement of trauma therapy, intensive trauma treatments and working mechanisms of trauma therapy. She is the vice president of the Dutch EMDR association, is in the scientific committee of EMDR Europe and is the past co-chair of the former Council of Scholars; the Future of EMDR project.

Juliane Tortes St.Jammes (France)
Juliane Tortes Saint Jammes is a clinical psychologist specialized in psychotraumatology, and EMDR Europe accredited trainer. Member of the NIH research team on trauma prevention and care. Member of the EMDR Europe Research Committee.

Alicia Valente (Spain)
Alicia Valienteis Doctor in Psychiatry from the University of Barcelona since 2016 and coordinator of the Research Unit at Centre Fòrum. Researcher at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute and researcher affiliated with CIBERSAM. Psychiatrist and EMDR psychotherapist at the Subacute Unit of Centre Fòrum.

Jonathan Hutchins (UK)
Dr Jonathan Hutchins is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who specializes in Neuropsychology. He is an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant and he delivers advanced workshops on Neuro EMDR; an adapted approach to clients who have cognitive problems. He is chair of both the Scientific Commitee and the Neuro EMDR SIG in the EMDR Association.

Paulina Zelviene (Lithuania)
Paulina Želvienė, PhD, is Associate Professor, Senior Researcher, Research group leader. She is a clinical psychologist, member of the Board of the Lithuanian Trauma Psychology Association (LTPA), President of the EMDR Lithuania Association, a member of the EMDR Europe Scientific Committee, and a member of the office of the Lithuanian Young Academy of Sciences (LMAJA). Her scientific interests are psychotraumatology, evidence-based treatment, and stress and resilience in adolescence. Paulina Želvienė is currently leading the projects HACHI and STAR-A. She is currently involved in the Horizon Europe project ADVANCE.

Standard Committee
The Standards Committee is responsible for the accreditation and re-accreditation of trainers and trainings. This Committee has also the task to reflect on EMDR therapy, its development, and the development of the teaching of EMDR. The members of this Committee are highly experienced EMDR Europe Senior Trainers.

Peter Lieberman (Germany)

Ester Bar-Sadeh is an Educational psychologist and an EMDR Europe accredited C&A Trainer. Isabel Fernandez (Italy)
Isabel Fernandez is the Director of the Psychotraumatology Research Center of Milan and has published many papers, articles and books on trauma, EMDR and other topics. She is chairman of the Italian EMDR Association and Former President of EMDR Europe Association (2015-2023) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Federation of Scientific Psychological Societies. She is a EMDR Europe Accredited Senior trainer since 2005.

Kath Norgate (UK) Secretary Standard Committee
Kath Norgate brings the administrative support to the Standards Committee. She keeps records on applications for Trainer Accreditation and Re-accreditation. She supports the applicants to ensure their supporting materials and documents are complete and in a format that can be readily accessed by the Standard committee member who is allocated to be their Case Assessor.
