Clinical and basic research programs have been extremely important for the development and recognition of EMDR therapy. In order to contribute to the development of research programs, the EMDR Europe Association has set up grant applications for european investigators.
The EMDRIA Foundation is dedicated to promoting high quality, unbiased research in EMDR and other scientific approaches to mental health. In support of these goals the EMDRIA Foundation has established two mechanisms to fund research on EMDR:
Doctoral Dissertation Grant Awards
Eligible doctoral students may apply for a grant of up to $5,000 to support dissertation expenses related to research to study the effectiveness of EMDR. Preference will be given to applications in one of the following priority areas:
- Combat trauma
- Depression
- Children & Adolescents
Grant awards of up to $10,000 are available for research on EMDR. Proposed studies examining the effectiveness of EMDR in treating PTSD will be considered, however, priority will be placed on studies that emphasize under developed areas of knowledge such as, the underlying mechanisms of EMDR; the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, somatic disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders, dissociative disorders; or populations such as combat veterans, children and adolescents.
