EMDR Europe HAP – A European Community EMDR Response to Psychological Trauma
EMDR Europe HAP is a network organisation responsible for the promotion and development of EMDR, as an evidence based, empirically supported psychotherapy, in assisting communities affected by the consequences of psychological trauma.
Goals of EMDR Europe HAP:
i. To liaise with organisations to either facilitate and/or co-ordinate the teaching and learning of EMDR as a humanitarian endeavour by training appropriately experienced mental health workers in EMDR in communities affected by the consequences of psychological trauma
ii. To provide an opportunity for participants of the various EMDR Europe HAP projects to attend the EMDR Europe annual conference for the purposes of networking, developing collaborative partnerships and the dissemination of research, EMDR practice and development
iii. To collaborate with all the respective EMDR European National HAP Associations and organisations regarding both the potential for, and the supporting of, existing EMDR HAP projects
iv. To aspire, promote and support the following:
a. The highest standards of safe, secure EMDR practice and development
b. Promotion of robust and ethically sound EMDR practice steadfastly underpinned by the current empirical evidence base of EMDR
c. Ensuring quality assurance of all EMDR Europe HAP projects
d. Development of research and audit activity so as to explore and monitor the impact of EMDR European HAP projects
v. To provide a platform at EMDR Europe Annual Conferences to disseminate an enhanced awareness of all EMDR European HAP projects and initiatives.
vi. To collaborate with respective partners and funding agencies in securing funds for future EMDR Europe HAP initiatives alongside EMDR National HAP Associations in response to various initiatives.
vii. Responsibility for the annual ‘EMDR Europe Humanitarian’ Award for each of the EMDR Europe Annual Conferences to a recipient who has made a significant contribution to EMDR Europe HAP.
